Child Custody/ Visitation

“Child custody” refers to the responsibilities and rights of parents to care for their children. This includes agreeing on a “visitation” order to decide how much time each parent will spend with the children.

In California, parents can share custody, or either one can have custody of the child (or children). The judge approves the arrangement (parenting plan) that both parents agree on. The final decision is usually made after the parents have resolved disagreements after meeting with a mediator and decided on a parenting plan. This plan becomes a custody and visitation order if signed by a judge.

To set up a custody/visitation order, you or the other parent must request an order from the court. The 247 Legal Documents team helps residents of Sacramento with child custody document preparation.

Having assisted several families with their child custody paperwork, we can help you complete the required documents, file them with the Sacramento family court, and serve the papers to the other party.
